Friendship is Raising Awareness and Money for Resident Benevolence Fund during Roanoke Valley Gives on March 18
ROANOKE, Va. (March 3, 2020) – Friendship, a local leader in senior living and rehabilitation, is excited to participate in Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia’s Roanoke Valley Gives day on Wednesday, March 18 for the first time. Fund development has become a new area of focus for the non-profit, as the organization seeks to offer more support to deserving seniors who need access to care.
“Friendship has a great story and an extensive history of serving seniors, regardless of their financial capacities,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Hoff. “We take pride in offering quality, award-winning, yet still affordable, care and services to all people. With additional financial support from both internal and external sources, Friendship will be able to serve more seniors in our region.”
Donations received through Roanoke Valley Gives will go toward Friendship’s newly-established Resident Benevolence Fund, which assists residents and patients, both now and in the future, who are unable to pay for care offered by the community. This fund includes covering services provided by Friendship’s home care service, adult day care, pharmacy and outpatient therapy, so individuals do not have to be a full-time, on-site resident to receive aid. Last year, Friendship gave $124,249 in charity care to 44 patients and residents who had financial needs they were unable to meet, including medical services, pharmaceutical expenses, and housing.
On March 18, Club Friendship, Friendship’s onsite restaurant and bar, will host a Dine & Donate event from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., where residents, staff and members of the greater community are invited to dine and participate in Roanoke Valley Gives day. Computers, as well as Friendship team members, will be available to help those who want to make online donations. All donors will receive a sweet treat and be entered to win one of four pairs of tickets to either the Blue Man Group or Stomp performances at The Berglund Center. Club Friendship is located within the community’s Residents’ Center at 397 Hershberger Road.

While the intent of the day is to collect online contributions, checks and gifts in other forms are always appreciated and will be counted, by Friendship, towards the day’s giving total.
