Friendship’s Adult Day Care Achieves Zero-Deficiency Survey for the Second Year in a Row

June 19, 2020

ROANOKE, Va. (June 19, 2020) – Friendship, a leader in senior living and rehabilitation, is proud to announce that its Adult Day Care services, offered at the Hershberger Road campus, confirmed its two-year license from the Virginia Department of Social Services after achieving another zero-deficiency survey.  This is the second year in a row the center has earned a deficiency-free review.

“I’m proud of the team and all of their efforts,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Hoff.  “Offering adult day care on-campus is one of Friendship’s differentiating features, and to have this third-party validation of the quality care we provide is an endorsement we greatly appreciate.”

Erin Layell serves as director of home and community-based services, overseeing the adult day care center as well as the company’s home care services.

“Inspections are being held off-site, due to current circumstances,” said Layell.  “Because of this, we’re told inspections are lending themselves to higher than normal deficiency numbers, simply because surveyors have more time to review care plans and medication records.  Words can’t describe how proud and ecstatic we are to have zero deficiencies, not only for this year, but for two consecutive years.”

In addition to earning deficiency-free surveys, OurHealth Magazine readers in 2019 awarded Friendship’s Adult Day Care center with the gold senior healthy living award.  2020 survey results will be announced later this fall.

“Erin has led the center in the right direction with growth in business, and she and her team are taking wonderful care of our participants,” said Vice President of Healthcare Operations Ben Higgins.  “Receiving these results makes the effort of the required 429-page submittal very worthwhile!”

The Feinour Center, nestled between Friendship’s Assisted Living and Westwood, one of the campus’ independent living residences, houses the Adult Day Care.  The center was dedicated in December 2016, and is named after 30-year Board Director Edwin Feinour, who has served as chairman for the last 22 years.

Friendship’s Adult Day Care has been temporarily closed due to the pandemic, however services are scheduled to restart on July 6.  To learn more about Friendship’s Adult Day Care and how Home Care services may be able to help until the center’s reopening, call Layell at 540.265.2194.  Additional information is also available on the company’s website at: friendship.us
