Richfield Living celebrates a new name as part of Friendship Retirement Community

March 19, 2024

SALEM, VA – Richfield Living, a senior living and healthcare community, is celebrating a new name and branding. Beginning immediately, Richfield Living is now Friendship Richfield Living. The new name honors the tradition and history of the Richfield community while bringing it into the Friendship family.

Friendship Retirement Community announced back in October 2023 that it had officially purchased Richfield Living. With a shared vision of helping individuals navigate life to the fullest, this partnership enhances Richfield Living’s offerings while allowing Friendship to expand its mission of “supporting friends by providing peace of mind” to more of the community.

President and CEO Joe Hoff said, “The united name helps us communicate that Friendship is one team at four locations committed to providing 5-star services.”

Friendship now has four campuses in Salem and Roanoke, Virginia:  Richfield Living, Salem Terrace, Friendship North Campus, and Friendship South Campus. The newly combined team serves more than 1,500 residents and employs more than 1,000 team members, making it the largest non-profit dedicated to providing health and living services to seniors in southwestern Virginia.

In a time when 4-in-5 residential care facilities are run by for-profit companies, Friendship, as a non-profit, continues to:

  1. invest profits back into our communities to provide best-in-class care and residences.
  2. focus on being a good neighbor in our southwestern Virginia communities and
  3. ensure that our residents can have a safe and caring place to live even when they have exhausted their financial resources.
